Our Founder & Lead Practitioner
Alissa Mariello, LE, LLP, MBA
Alissa Mariello opened The Glow Up Laser Spa in 2026 with the mission of providing the best permanent hair removal/reduction experiences in Charlotte. She is a NC-licensed electrologist (LE) and licensed laser practitioner (LLP), having studied at the renowned Electrology Institute of New England under Mary Evangelista and completing internships at Cherry Blossom Laser Studio in Vienna, VA, under Dusty Shenofsky, and Beauty Skin Deep in Charlotte, NC, under Margaret Wingate. She earned a BA in English and a Master’s in Business Administration from Boston University, and enjoyed a 20-year career in marketing before starting The Glow Up Laser Spa. Alissa is a member of the United Professional Electrologists Association. She has had laser hair removal and electrolysis on multiple body areas and was driven to open The Glow Up Laser Spa to help others feel confident in their skin too. Alissa is the owner and lead practitioner of The Glow Up.
Our Medical Director
Dimitrios Hondros, MD
Dimitrios Hondros, MD, is a NC board-certified physician in family practice who focuses on providing compassionate care and treating each of his patients as individual human beings. He has been in practice for more than 20 years in the Matthews and Ballantyne areas. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Carolinas Medical Center. He served as the NC State President of the NC Academy of Family Physicians in 2022, overseeing more than 40,000 NC physicians. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hiking, fishing, and volunteering at a local free clinic.
